What does an authentic Hawaiian narrative look like on the big screen? HAWAIʻI Magazine hosts a lively talk story with the next generation of Native Hawaiian filmmakers shooting short- and feature-length films in the Islands. Selected by the Sundance Institute to workshop their screenplays, these writer-directors will speak candidly about their experience with Hollywood’s champion of indie filmmaking, their diverse perspectives on storytelling through a native lens and explore the state of contemporary cinema in Hawaiʻi. Watch clips from their current features and mingle with the local film community.
